Tarek Sherif

TAREK SHERIF
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

One of the founders of Medidata Solutions, Tarek has served as chief executive officer since 2001. Tarek has effectively orchestrated the evolution of the company to become one of the industry leaders in clinical technology and services, now relied upon by leading biopharmaceutical companies worldwide. Throughout Tarek's tenure, Medidata Solutions has experienced significant growth in order to support ongoing and new clinical trials in more than 80 countries. In his role as Chairman and CEO, Tarek is involved in business development, as well as general and strategic management including budgets, sales and marketing, product development, finance, human resources, and customer and partner relations.

Tarek brings to Medidata Solutions more than 16 years of broad-based financial and managerial experience. He has founded and managed a variety of technology and service driven businesses, focusing on strategic initiatives, financial management and analysis. Prior to forming Medidata Solutions, Tarek was the managing member of a partnership focused on public and private investments in technology and life science companies, where he managed both long and short equity hedge funds.

Previously, he co-managed a privately held equity fund specializing in publicly traded technology companies, including those in the healthcare and information technology fields. He has also served as assistant vice president of corporate finance at General Electric Capital Corporation, and mergers and acquisitions analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman & Company.

Tarek received his B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1984. Following a career on Wall Street, Tarek attended Columbia Business School where he earned a degree in business administration and finance and graduated first in a class of 650 students in 1991.

Glen de Vries

GLEN DE VRIES
President

Glen is one of the founders of Medidata Solutions and the original architect of the Medidata Rave® electronic data capture and clinical data management system. Since the company's inception, Glen has been responsible for driving Medidata's technology vision, building the company's critical sponsor and partner relationships, and helping to forge a new eClinical reality for the biopharmaceutical industry. He has also been instrumental in drawing top talent from the clinical research community and enterprise software and IT industries to bring a range of expertise to the Medidata team.

Prior to his work with Medidata Solutions, Glen’s pioneering efforts in online physician/patient relationships were featured by The New York Times and drew the attention of the Office of Health and Human Services. He has over 10 years of experience in medical software development, including Electronic Health Records and consumer-targeted products. As president of OceanTek, a web development firm focused on applications for the healthcare industry, he was the chief consultant for a Fortune 500 global e-commerce project, and was the author of web security components currently in use by thousands of web sites and corporate intranets.

Glen has studied probabilistic algorithms at the Courant Institute of Mathematics (New York University) and received his B.S. in molecular biology and genetics from Carnegie Mellon University. His subsequent work at Columbia University focused on both research science and medical informatics, working on a blood assay for the detection of micro-metastases in prostate cancer patients, and creating a paperless clinical data management system. His peer-reviewed papers have been published in Cancer, the Journal of Urology, Molecular Diagnostics, Urology, and Urologic Clinics of North America.

Glen has been a featured presenter at multiple Drug Information Association (DIA) meetings in U.S., as well as DIA Japan, SCDM, Bio-IT World, BIOPHEX, Partnerships with CROs, the National Medical Association Annual Meeting, and American Urological Association Annual Meetings.

Bruce Dalziel

BRUCE DALZIEL
Chief Financial Officer

As chief financial officer at Medidata Solutions, Bruce is responsible for leading the company's finance and legal functions.

Bruce brings over 25 years of experience to Medidata Solutions with a strong background in driving financial strategy and results across functions for large global corporations. Before joining Medidata, Bruce served as the CFO of NYSE-listed BISYS Inc. from 2005 to 2007, and as CFO of NASDAQ-listed DoubleClick, Inc. from 2000 to 2005. During his tenure in these positions, Bruce managed all aspects of finance—including financial reporting and control, tax, treasury and risk management, as well as investor relations, facilities, corporate technology, business operations and legal, with substantial merger and acquisitions activity in both roles. Prior to DoubleClick, Bruce held a variety of positions at Prudential Insurance Company of America over a 14 year period, including corporate vice president of financial planning and analysis, vice president of institutional asset management sales and CFO of international insurance.

Bruce has degrees in Industrial Engineering (Georgia Tech) and English Literature (Ursinus College) and earned his MBA from Columbia University.

Cory Douglas

CORY DOUGLAS
Vice President, Controller

As vice president, controller at Medidata Solutions, Cory functions as the principal accounting officer, responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the company. Cory has more than 18 years of accounting-related experience, including financial auditing, internal control implementation and monitoring, revenue recognition and public company controllership.

Prior to joining Medidata, Cory served as senior vice president, controller of The BISYS Group, Inc (formerly NSYE listed, acquired by CitiBank), where he was responsible for a variety of duties including accounting, taxes, budgeting and planning. Previously, Cory held various roles of increasing responsibility at DoubleClick (formerly NASDAQ listed) including senior vice president, controller. At DoubleClick, Cory oversaw significant financial operation and internal control improvement, while managing all aspects of accounting and reporting. Cory has also held various corporate and divisional accounting roles at Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE: CL), primarily in support of international operations. Cory began his career at Arthur Andersen and Co., an international accounting firm.

Cory holds a B.S. in accounting from San Francisco State University.

Arden Schneider

ARDEN SCHNEIDER
Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Arden came to Medidata Solutions with more than nineteen years of experience leading human resources, administrative and operations organizations in a variety of industries. At Medidata, Arden leads all human resources and administrative functions and initiatives, including employee relations, policy creation and implementation, labor law issues, recruiting and facilities.

Before joining Medidata Solutions, Arden was the Director of Administration at Emblaze Systems U.S., a subsidiary of Israel-based technology company Emblaze Systems Ltd. At Emblaze, she was responsible for all operations of the U.S. subsidiary, including human resources, facilities and general and administrative services. Previously, Arden spent thirteen years at Spring Point Imaging, a company she co-founded and that later became part of Mitsubishi Chemical America, for whom she worked for four years. At Spring Point, Arden headed all human resources, facilities and administrative departments and functions.

Arden graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English, and completed additional coursework in the Wharton School of Business. She also earned a Professional Certificate in Human Resources Management from New York University's Marketing and Management Institute.

Michael Otner

MICHAEL OTNER
General Counsel

As general counsel at Medidata Solutions, Mike is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the company, including furnishing legal and corporate development advice to the company’s CEO and other senior executives.

Mike has over 10 years of experience managing legal operations, with extensive knowledge in securities law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, employment law and licensing. Prior to joining Medidata, Mike served as associate general counsel, vice president and assistant secretary of The BISYS Group, Inc. (acquired by Citibank) where he was responsible for a broad range of SEC and general corporate matters as well as all legal support for the company's private equity services business. He previously held various counsel roles of increasing responsibility over a five year period at Globespan (NASDAQ: GSPN) and Conexant (NASDAQ: CNXT), which include serving as general counsel of Globespan during 2003 to 2004 and as general counsel of Conexant following its acquisition of Globespan until 2005. Mike began his legal career specializing in corporate and securities law at Olshan Grundman Frome Rosenzweig & Wolosky LLP, a law firm based in New York City.

Mike holds a law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and received his B.B.A from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Lineene Krasnow

LINEENE KRASNOW
Executive Vice President, Product and Marketing

Lineene brings more than 25 years of marketing, business development and sales experience to her role as executive vice president of product and marketing at Medidata Solutions. Her responsibilities include defining and building the company's brand, defining and delivering product offerings, and developing and executing product marketing, partner marketing, marketing communications and public relations programs.

Lineene joined Medidata Solutions after holding various executive positions at IBM. She most recently served as vice president of corporate marketing management, where she drove significant improvements in the design and contribution of marketing by leading company-wide initiatives. Previously, as vice president of worldwide marketing management for IBM's Personal Systems Group, Lineene created IBM Easy Access for 200 global clients, ensuring cost-efficiency in the evaluation and procurement of customized PC-based solutions.

Lineene's other positions included vice president of marketing for IBM Personal Systems Asia-Pacific in Tokyo, where she launched customer direct procurement of personal computer products across Asia; vice president of Intel-based server marketing for IBM in Raleigh, NC, and vice president of marketing and communications at IBM PC Company in Somers, NY.

Lineene received her B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame.

Earl Hulihan

EARL HULIHAN
Senior Vice President, Regulatory Compliance

Earl brings more than 30 years of experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, drug development and clinical research to his role as senior vice president of regulatory compliance at Medidata Solutions. In this position, Earl is responsible for maintaining the highest standards for all Medidata products and services and ensuring compliance with U.S. and international clinical and quality regulations.

Earl has held a variety of senior management positions in the global pharmaceutical environment serving both pharmaceutical companies and CROs. Prior to joining Medidata Solutions, Earl served as the senior vice president of regulatory consulting services at META Solutions Inc. and vice president of quality systems at EduQuest. In both roles, Earl provided regulatory consulting, auditing and training services to the global pharmaceutical, biologics and medical device industries. He has also provided advice and training to regulatory agency personnel within the U.S. FDA, European and Asian communities and has more than 15 years of experience in clinical medicine as a research scientist, teaching specialist, physiologist and clinical investigator.

A frequently featured speaker, instructor and program chair at key industry events, Earl is currently the chair of the Drug Information Association’s Global Conference on Computerized Systems in Clinical Research: Current Quality and Data Integrity Concepts and was co-chair of the DIA 2006's Red Apple 2 Conference on Computerized Systems for Non-Clinical Safety Assessment. Earl also serves on the DIA Advisory Council for North America, on the editorial board of the Guide to Good Clinical Practice, and as a contributing author to the textbook New Drug Approval Process with sections on quality assurance and HIPAA and GCP: A Question and Answer Reference Guide with sections on GCP in Latin America and GCP in China. Earl holds Professorships with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (USA) and the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China).

In addition to advanced training in medicine, physiology, psychology and computer science, Earl also holds a masters degree in education with bachelor degrees in education and the sciences. Earl has received awards from various international organizations including the American Heart Association, the Drug Information Association and the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation.

Steven Hirschfeld

STEVEN HIRSCHFELD
Executive Vice President, Sales & Alliances

Steve brings more than 20 years of broad-based sales and management experience in healthcare and technology related fields to his position of executive vice president of sales and alliances at Medidata Solutions. Steve is responsible for creating and maintaining superior client and partner relations, building and directing the company’s global sales force, and implementing the necessary processes for the achievement of the company’s revenue goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Medidata Solutions, Steve served as vice president of sales at I-Many, where he played in integral role in transforming the organization into the leading contract management and trade relationship management software company, culminating in a successful initial public offering in July 2000. Previously, Steve spent five years at the Janis Group as a business development executive where he launched and managed several of JGI’s emerging business units and directed the corporate marketing department. At Janis, he helped evolve the single-product company to a world-class systems integrator with multi-vendor, complete solution offerings for the industrial middle market.

Steve received his B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Delaware in 1984.

Vik Shah

VIK SHAH
Senior Vice President, Services

Vik joined Medidata Solutions in 2003 and has a diverse background in software development, information technology and software implementation services.

In his initial role as vice president of product, Vik was an integral member of the Medidata Solutions R&D team that brought Rave 5.0 to market. He built the Product Management, Software Quality Assurance and Custom Development teams. Most recently, as senior vice president of services, Vik is responsible for client and support services.

Prior to Medidata Solutions, Vik’s career consists of 13 years of experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence (BI) and Electronic Commerce (eCommerce) software development and implementations. His projects consisted of several large-scale global deployments of software and custom technologies, for pharmaceutical and medical device organizations.
